Movie Analysis by Reelistic MC
Sat May 25, 3:00 PM
Raghuveer Raju Boosa
Art and literature can be seen as extensions of the human mind. Very often they can reveal what lies within, sometimes visibly, and, sometimes, not quite so visibly. The movie club is (we hope) a fun way of looking deeper into the emotions, perceptions and thoughts that weave human relationships together or tear them apart. A movie may be treated as a true story or, alternatively, can be used as a tool to try and figure out what went on in the directors head when the movie was made. Either way, it’s a different way of understanding human behavior and relationships. In the end, by looking deeper into another’s story, we hope, perchance, to understand ourselves better.

Water is coming (ForEarth)
Tue Jun 4, 7:00 PM
Adrien SELLES and Sylvain FERRANT
India is facing multiple challenges in terms of water use. Major river dams have been built in the 80s to secure the expected fast growing domestic demand. Those infrastructures are now outdated and nowadays Indian megacities have to face both severe domestic water shortages and a steady water demand growth expected for the next decades. This discussion aims to propose an involvment of all the citizens to monitor their water resource. It is crucial to sensibilize the water users.

Developped in collaboration with scientists, the ForEarth system demonstrates an easy access to monitoring and warning related to water supplies for irrigation and consumption around the city and Hyderabad in the state of Telangana in India. Using satellites images combined with machine learning, a precise monitoring of the water resource is possible via smartphone.

This service is in easy access, free and data responsable. With this service, we want to rise the involvment of all water users and share the experience of water consumptions at different level during an open discussion.

This event will combine presentations by Researchers specialize in water and remote sensing with a round table discussion with the users.
This event is not commercial.

Casteism InstitutionalizedMurder
Sun Jun 9, 4:30 PM
DIALOGUE
Let's Discuss
"Casteism - Institutionalised Murders"

The suicide of Dr Payal Tadvi from Maharashtra has sparked the discussion of " caste discrimination" all over the nation. This incident particularly shows how a bold, brave girl can be broken through casteism. The three senior female doctors who harrased her don't even acknoeledge their mistake or recognise their caste privilege.
More recently a guy named Bakki Srinivas was beaten to death for eating a fallen mango from the mango plantagion of a savarna landlord. In Alwar, Rajasthan a heterosexual bahujan couple were stripped naked and girls were gang raped by a mob of sarvarna men.
Many such incidents of caste-based harassment have been surfacing from time to time. All these incidents are proof that even after 70 years of criminalising caste discrimination the urban and rural India suffers from everyday casteism which leads to institutionalised murders of people like Payal, Rohith Vemula etc.,
Rohit vemula student of UOH who committed suicide wrote " The value of a man was reduced to his immediate identity and nearest possibility. To a vote, to a number to a thing. Never was a man treated as a mind" in his letter. His death marked the uprising of a movement that asked for "ROHIT ACT" which would strain the present SC, ST atrocities act / POA ACT. Instead, the present savarna dominant Hindutva government has been trying to dilute the POA ACT.

At this juncture, it's important that all of us understand the effects and forms of casteism in these contemporary times and find ways to END CASTEISM.

Ambekar said " Educate- Agitate- Organise" Therefore let us all discuss and educate ourselves casteism, it's effects and the way ahead to end casteism.

ALL ARE WELCOME!!!

XpressionZ Theatre Group
Most of us agree that childhood days were the best days of life. And we all carry memories of childhood across ages. One of the prominent memories to rekindle our childhood would be the song, "Taa naa naa tana naanaa naa..." of Malgudi days. XpressionZ brings to you, a piece of 3 short plays based on RK narayan's Malgudi days, which most of have witnessed and have enjoyed a lot. The beauty of these stories lies in the simplicity and unconventional endings with a small piece of message to the society, all in a humorous way.

Movie Analysis By Dr Bhaskar
Sat Jun 15, 3:00 PM
Raghuveer
