In a world that moves quickly, there is something valuable about making time to slow down, work with our hands and be present.
As somebody who loves art, I’ve found that making things has become a simple way of stepping away from the pace of everyday life. Lippan & Love is an attempt to share that experience through a traditional Indian craft in a relaxed, social setting.
The workshop introduces participants to Lippan art, a traditional Gujarati art form that uses clay and mirrors to create intricate decorative patterns. Participants will learn the basic techniques and create their own piece to take home.
The two-hour session will be beginner-friendly and informal, with all materials provided. A cup of chai or coffee will also be included for each participant. The atmosphere will be supported by a curated Indian music playlist and space for conversation and interaction.
The workshop is intended to make traditional craft approachable for people who may not have an artistic background, while creating an opportunity to slow down, meet others and spend a Sunday afternoon making something by hand.
