Lamakaan was born on March 13th, 2010. It turns 8 this March. Every year, we celebrate our anniversary with a special line-up of events. with a set of events that highlight our engagement with issues of culture, politics and society. In March 2010, Ardhanaji gave a fabulous Nand to the very few of us who gathered in the first week of Lamakaan. It was a memorable evening. On tabla is Suhas Sastry (also her husband) and Rahul Deshpande on the harmonium.

Shehla Rashid, Jignesh Mevani and Pratik Sinha gathered at Lamakaan for a historic dialogue on radical youth movements.
March 19th, 2017
One of India’s most famous musicians, front-man of the band Indian Ocean and part of ensemble satire group Aisi Taisi Democracy, Rahul Ram, shared his journey with us and performed at the closing event of the Lamakaan anniversary celebrations.
The evening began with the screening of the film Leaving Home, post which he be interacted with the audience and thrill us with his music.
