An evening with Telugu fiction writer Sudhakar Unudurti
immersive performative audio presentations of accomplished Telugu literary texts
co-hosted by
MARUVAM (forum for probing and delightful conversations and performances in Telugu)
and
LAMAKAAN (The Open Cultural Center), Hyderabad.
Former marine engineer turned writer Sudhkar Unudurti (b. 1954) quickly established himself as a significant writer in Telugu with the publication of his book of stories Toorupu Gaalulu (Eastern Winds), which brought alive significant historical situations and shifting paradigmatic contexts from the ancient Buddhist times, as well as the British colonial times , at various locations on the eastern Andhra coast. He has since then published one more volume of stories and two novels.
This edition of DHWANI will feature a performative reading of three stories of Sudhakar, two
of them from the volume Toorupu Gaalulu (Eastern Winds), supported and enehanced with appropriate suggestive and symboliclly connected visual and audio elements.
