Steven Allan Spielberg, born (December 18, 1946), is an American director, writer, and producer. He is the most commercially successful director of all time, a significant figure of the New Hollywood era, and a pioneer of the modern blockbuster. Spielberg receives various accolades, including three Academy Awards, a Kennedy Center honor, a Cecil B. DeMille Award, and an AFI Life Achievement Award. Seven of his films have been inducted into the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress.

About the film: Schindler's List is a 1993 American epic historical drama directed and produced by Steven Spielberg and written by Steven Zaillian. It is based on the 1982 novel Schindler's Ark by Australian novelist Thomas Keneally. The film follows Oskar Schindler, a German industrialist who saved more than a thousand, mostly Polish-Jewish refugees, from the Holocaust by employing them in his factories during World War II. It stars Liam Neeson as Schindler, Ralph Fiennes as SS officer Amon Göth, and Ben Kingsley as Schindler's Jewish accountant Itzhak Stern.
