The film is based on the Telangana peasant armed struggle of the 1940s, against the despotic rule of the Nizams and the razaakars. It also depicts how this armed struggle was brutally suppressed by the indian army, after which, the Nizam has surrendered and the Hyderabad State was annexed to the indian union.
