Tue Jun 24, 7:00 PM
Hyderabad Cinephiles
Join us for a screening and discussion of the documentary film “The Settlers” on 24 June, at 7pm at Lamakaan, Banjara Hills!
Shimon Dotan’s 2016 documentary about the Israeli settlements is a telling account of the settler-colonial, occupationist Zionist regime that has been systematically trying to erase the existence of Palestine and its people. The Zionist project is laid bare through the mouths of the settlers themselves. The film revolves around Israeli settlers pushing into the West Bank, the ideological justifications they provide, and the involvement of the Israeli politicians and state in enabling the illegal settlements. The film provides some much-needed insight into the nature of apartheid state of Israel and the history of the conflict. Today, we are seeing the height of the Zionist entity’s barbarity, which has killed over 60,000 Palestinians since October 2023, and has razed Gaza to the ground. This event is being held in solidarity with the Palestinian people, whose fight for liberation is a source of inspiration for the common people across the globe.
