Live in harmony with nature
Sun Feb 22, 10:30 AM
Rakesh Rootsman
My name is Rakesh Rootsman Rak, and I am a UK Citizen and have been a living in multiple countries for 30 years.

For many years, I was defined by what I was against, which eventually led to a wall of total burnout. I realised that while I knew exactly what organisations were doing wrong, I had not yet mastered how to do things right within a community. Since then, I have shifted my focus to building a life and projects that are "for" something, creating systems that are right for humans, animals and Mother Nature.

How I can support you
I specialize in practical self reliance and, more importantly, collaborative working. I can help your community with:

Governance and Harmony: I have helped several eco villages and networks move from the brink of collapse and shouting matches to becoming thriving, loving associations that make good decisions together.

Food Growing: Teaching how to grow food in a way that encourages animals and insects to come and go of their own free will without exploitation.

Self Reliance for Free: Making fermented foods and essentials from scratch, such as creating apple cider vinegar from apple scraps, as well as making soaps, toothpastes and cleaning powders.

Eco Infrastructure: Designing and building houses, stoves and off grid energy systems like solar, wind and pedal power.

My goal is to build a model of governance that feels sustainable. We can achieve our mission without losing ourselves to frustration and burnout.

Discussion on 4 Labour Codes
Sun Feb 22, 4:30 PM
In Defense of Reason
Modi government has replaced the 29 labour laws with 4 labour codes. Apart from facilitating the 'Ease of Doing Business', the government claims that these labour codes will benefit the workers and employees as well. The government also claims that these labour codes have also been made keeping in mind the interest of unorganised sector workers and gig workers.
In our next discussion we will discuss if there is any truth in the lofty claims made by the government. All are cordially welcome.

Park
Sun Feb 22, 8:00 PM
Sriram Vader
Description:- PARK a powerful play by Manav Kaul
Directed by - Sriram Vader
PARK - is set in a quiet public park where two strangers begin an unremarkable conversation. What starts as casual, almost mundane talk gradually reveals subtle layers of curiosity, hesitation, and guarded honesty. The characters move between light humor and thoughtful pauses, suggesting that even ordinary encounters carry unspoken questions. The open setting feels familiar, yet there’s a gentle sense that more is being exchanged than just words. As the conversation unfolds, small details begin to matter in unexpected ways. Without dramatic twists, the play quietly invites the audience to notice how people reveal themselves - slowly, carefully, and sometimes unintentionally. In its simplicity, Park lingers as a reflection on chance meetings and the quiet complexity of human interaction.

Motive behind SIR
Tue Feb 24, 7:00 PM
sk jani basha
Special intensive revision (SIR) is the new weapon in the hands of the central government to threaten
the common people particularly the minorities and other vulnerable sections of the people.Reports from the ground suggest that marginalized communities, migrant workers, minorities, and the urban poor are disproportionately affected by voter deletions. Such selective disenfranchisement cannot be dismissed as coincidence. It reflects a political strategy where electoral rolls are manipulated to shape outcomes in favor of the ruling establishment, rather than reflecting the genuine will of the people.

In this background we are conducting the debate on the motives behind SIR on 24th February 2026.

These are the voices of history. Voices that ordinary history does not narrate. Voices that swam against the current when the swift eddies of the historical flow threatened to drown them. Voices like thunderclouds, raising for their share of the half that is theirs in the earth and sky.

PC Bollywood and Muslim Identity
Fri Mar 6, 7:00 PM
Lamakaan
Postcolonial Bollywood and Muslim Identity: Production, Representation, and Reception examines how Hindi cinema has shaped, negotiated, and reframed Muslim identity in India from the post-independence period to the present. The book critically analyses cinematic narratives, industrial practices, and audience reception to reveal how nationalism, secularism, and majoritarian politics intersect within popular film culture. By situating Bollywood within broader postcolonial debates, the work offers a nuanced account of how Muslim identity has been constructed, marginalised, romanticised, and politicised on screen.
The book talk will be delivered by Dr. Nadira Khatun, Author and Associate Professor at XIM University Bhubaneswar. Her research focuses on media, nationalism, memory, and minority representation in South Asian cinema. She has published widely on Bollywood and identity politics, and her work bridges film studies, political theory, and postcolonial scholarship.
The session will be moderated by Dr. Meraj Ahmed Mubarki, Associate Professor at Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad. His academic interests include media studies, cultural politics, and minority discourse.
The event invites scholars, students, and the wider public to reflect on cinema’s role in shaping cultural memory and national imagination in contemporary India.

Sutradhar, Hyd presents DUSHALA
Sun Mar 8, 8:00 PM
Sutradhar
Dushala, the character from our epic Mahabharata, the only daughter of Dhritarashtra and Gandhari, talks about her pain and anguish over the ages and yearns for an identity for herself. Here, we are not only talking about the Kaurava princess, but about the women in general, about all the daughters, sisters, wives and mothers around us.
She talks of how she was neglected by her mother right from the time of her birth, in fact, much before that, describing how and why she was even made to take birth. How she was betrayed by her own brother, who bartered her to Jayadrath as a consolation for losing at Draupadi's swayamvar. What made her love the Pandavas and Draupadi more than her own brothers and their wives? The high point of the performance is a lesson on how to bring up sons, with Dushala setting an example of going against the grain and spending quality time with the child, much unlike her own mother. More importantly, she made her son Surath realize the futility of a war. Why and how she eventually breaks her bond with Hastinapur forms the climax of the performance.

Kirai illu

Gowtham
Kirayi Illu takes place over one night inside a rented house during a wedding celebration. When a 60-year-old migrant worker dies suddenly, his family informs the house owner, expecting support. Instead, they are asked to remain silent until the wedding rituals are completed, so the death does not disturb the festivities or raise uncomfortable questions.

With no real choice, the family locks itself inside the house and waits. Outside, drums beat, guests dance, and the celebration grows louder. Inside, grief is contained, whispered, and controlled.

As the night passes, the family confronts a painful truth: respect and belonging were tied to the man who is now gone. By morning, when permission is finally given to perform the rituals, they make a quiet decision. They will take the body back to their village, choosing a peaceful farewell over another compromise.
